Collector Index: Marque Chapter

Aston Martin: Racing Heritage & Bespoke Icons

From the DBR1 and original DB4 GT Zagato to bespoke V12 commissions, Zagato coachwork, Valkyrie, Valhalla and dedicated circuit programmes, Aston Martin brings competition history and distinctive engineering to the Collector Index.

The collector rationale

This chapter follows five connected strands: historic racing cars, limited V12 road cars, the Zagato relationship, contemporary hypercars and circuit programmes, and forthcoming special series. Valhalla adds an important bridge between the Valkyrie programme and Aston Martin’s first series-production mid-engined plug-in hybrid architecture. Selection rests on each model’s distinct contribution rather than catalogue size.

These profiles provide a starting point for a private acquisition discussion. They do not establish that an individual car is available, and rarity alone does not replace examination of identity, condition, provenance and suitability.

Racing Heritage

Competition history and the road-car homologation lineage that helped define the marque.

Bespoke V12 Icons

Limited programmes connecting distinctive bodywork, craftsmanship and V12 engineering.

Zagato Collection

Original coachbuilt identity and modern interpretations, with each body style considered separately.

Nineteen-car modern DBZ series

Aston Martin DBS GT Zagato

The DBS GT Zagato is the contemporary half of Aston Martin’s DBZ Centenary Collection, pairing a bespoke V12 grand-tourer with the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation.

Confirm factory identity, original finish, bespoke body components and the history of the companion car where relevant.

Ninety-nine-car Zagato coupé series

Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Coupé

The Vanquish Zagato Coupé introduced the modern four-car Zagato family, combining Aston Martin’s naturally aspirated V12 grand-tourer with a distinct carbon-fibre body and double-bubble roof.

Inspect carbon bodywork, paint and trim, confirm original exterior and cabin specification, and review service history.

Ninety-nine-car open Zagato series

Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Volante

The Vanquish Zagato Volante translates the family’s bespoke V12 grand-touring design into an open car, retaining a folding roof and its own distinctive rear body treatment.

Check roof operation, seals, cabin condition, carbon bodywork and original trim specification.

Twenty-eight-car Zagato speedster series

Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Speedster

The Vanquish Zagato Speedster is the rarest body style in the four-car family, giving the naturally aspirated V12 a distinctive open configuration with sculptural rear speed humps.

Inspect bespoke carbon surfaces, cockpit trim, rear body components and any weather equipment supplied with the car.

Ninety-nine-car Zagato shooting brake

Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake

The Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake completes the four-car family through an extended roof and distinctive rear architecture.

Verify original cabin and exterior choices, rear glazing and tailgate operation, body repairs and service history.

Nineteen modern, track-only Continuations

Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato Continuation

The DB4 GT Zagato Continuation is a modern Aston Martin Works recreation of the historic design, built as the track-only half of the DBZ Centenary Collection.

Confirm Aston Martin Works build records, chassis identity, original pairing, equipment and applicable use restrictions.

Hypercars & Track Cars

Road-going hypercars and dedicated circuit programmes with different ownership requirements.

150-car road-going coupé series

Aston Martin Valkyrie

The Valkyrie brings Aston Martin’s hypercar ambitions into a road-going coupé, combining a high-revving naturally aspirated V12, hybrid assistance and exceptionally focused aerodynamic packaging.

Arrange a marque-qualified assessment of the powertrain, hybrid systems, carbon structure and aerodynamic components.

Eighty-five-car open hypercar series

Aston Martin Valkyrie Spider

The Valkyrie Spider gives Aston Martin’s V12 hybrid hypercar an open interpretation, with a removable roof and dedicated structural and aerodynamic development.

Confirm original Spider identity, roof and storage equipment, structural condition, factory records and service support.

Forty track cars, plus two prototypes

Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro

The production Valkyrie AMR Pro is a dedicated track-only development, combining a naturally aspirated V12 with substantially revised chassis proportions and aerodynamics.

Review circuit hours, maintenance schedules, powertrain work, aero repairs and factory support.

999-car mid-engined hybrid series

Aston Martin Valhalla

Valhalla is Aston Martin’s first series-production mid-engined plug-in hybrid supercar, combining 1079 PS with active aerodynamics and Formula 1-derived development input.

Confirm factory and Q specification, delivery documentation, hybrid and software status, service history, carbon structure, aero components and evidence of circuit use.

Twenty-four-car track-only series

Aston Martin Vulcan

The Vulcan expresses Aston Martin’s front-engined V12 performance philosophy through a dedicated track-only car, with a carbon-fibre structure and substantial aerodynamic equipment.

Check engine and transmission servicing, circuit hours, carbon repairs, braking systems and aero specification.

Forthcoming Special Series

Announced programmes considered as future collector references, subject to production and delivery.

Building an Aston Martin collection

A collection may follow one historical lineage or bring complementary road and circuit cars together. Atelier Grand Slam starts with intended use, the existing collection and the individual acquisition brief before assessing particular examples.
